RAQS OF THE NILE Ireland's 1st Bellydance Festival
Your first Bellydance Festival in Ireland takes place in November 2008 and you are Welcome to participate in it .
Its an opportunity for you and your students to meet other dancers in Ireland whether your style is Tribal , Traditonal or Fusion - lets all meet once a year to share our Art.
For the first time we will have as our guest an EGYPTIAN Master Teacher from Alexandria MAGDA KOUDOS who runs her school in Germany and for 20 years has taught Master Classes around the World ( see attached photo Magda on stage in Toulouse June 2008 ).
Also performing is GAMAL SEIF and SEMSEMAH : Algerian born, SEMSEMAH is an established RAQS SHARQI dancer from Paris and a member of BELLY ART DANSE COMPANY.

SHAKEFEST
Our first Shake Workshop taster takes place on
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH, 2008 at Charleville Castle, Tullamore
3 workshops including Candles with Bellydance Choreographies and Stage Presence by
AZARIA, OLD SCHOOL Disco, and Bellydance Combinations with VAWN.
We will also be providing a healthy Egyptian Inspired Buffet Dinner (also suitable for vegetarians) after the workshops complete with an evening Hafla and Performance in the candle - lit Ballroom of Charleville Castle, all of this for a great valued package price of only 62.50.

WORKING WITH CANDLES & IMPROVING STAGE PRESENCE BY AZARIA
From 12-2pm: A WORKSHOP FOR BELLY DANCERS that looks at three elements. STAGE PRESENCE, how to be calm and confident, and work the stage to your best advantage and CANDLES, how to work with candles as a prop as well as a CHOREOGRAPHY, with tips and hints on creating them. This workshop involves also piecing your learned work into fluid motion. This is a 2 hour, general level class. Open to those with some BellyDance or intermediate experience in any other form.

From 2.30-3.30pm Back by Popular Demand. Comb your afro, give a good-bye morning kiss your John Travolta poster on your wall, glitter your lips and put your best platformed foot forward. Step it out with retro moves and a whole lot of funky attitude.. Who you pointin' that finger at sucka? Get your booty over here and learn this slick little dance. One hour Workshop open to All Levels , No dance experience necessary.
COMBINATIONS FOR BELLYDANCE WITH VAWN
From 4-6pm A 2 hour workshop that focuses on merging fluid movements into sequences that you can use in your own choreographies. GET THE FLOW! Beautiful flowing combinations to add drama and passion to your dancing, using steps, arms and expressive gestures. Adaptable to any music you choose and certain to bring personality and warmth to your dancing. For those with Belly Dance Experience
EVENING MEAL & HAFLA
At 6:30pm Relax after your day of fun and dance with a healthy Ethnic buffet meal in the Ballroom, inspired by The Red Ember's recent trip to Luxor, Egypt and is suitable for Vegetarians. Menu will be available shortly.
Then, take some time to enjoy the cosy fire-side and the Neo-Gothic surroundings of Charleville Castle's atmosphere in our candle-lit grand rooms ....
Hafla's are Hebrew for 'Celebration'... its an informal dance performance where any group or individual can perform, get a chance to show off what they know or have learned in the workshops to other dancers and have a general fun shake around. Performances by Azaria, Vawn and The Red Ember's From 7.p.m

DANCE HOLIDAY IN TUNISIA!!! TRIBAL BELLYDANCE WITH WENDY MARLATT IN MONASTIR, TUNISIA
Wendy Marlatt has teamed up with Desert Journey to offer you a holiday
in the delightful Tunisian resort of Monastir with sunshine, relaxation and
plenty of dancing thrown in!
We will be staying at the Monastir Center a
4 star hotel close to the centre of town and the sea with swimming pool,
bars, a restaurant and a private function room for dance classes.
In the course of the week there will be 10 hours of instruction including zills, basics and technique refinement, group work, new combos, etc.
The setting will be beautiful, sunny and relaxed at the Monastir Center and there will be plenty of time each day to head to the beach, explore the medina and souk of Monastir or to take a camel adventure into the desert.

WORKSHOPS with Egyptian Dance Master SHAFEEK IBRAHIM
Galway Bellydance and Vawn (Bellydance Teacher Dublin) are hosting Shafeek Ibrahim - Egyptian Dance Master for 2 exciting Workshops in Dublin on the 29th February 09.
1. Egyptian Pop (Open level)
Egyptian music is changing all the time. Are you confused how to dance to it authentically?
Shafeek will show you how to dance belly dance to the new music of Egypt.
In this workshop you will learn new dance techniques and also about the changing in attitude, culture and influence to bellydance.
Shafeek will teach you how make your dance more modern and stylish.

2. Classic Oriental (Intermediate / Advanced Level)
Elements of a classical Oriental choreography from entrance to finale.
In this workshop Shafeek will teach you all the essentials of an Oriental dance routine.
From learning how to make a strong entrance and exit, to travelling steps and combinations as well as learning those beautiful classic soft and fluid movements.

Biography of Shafeek Ibrahim
Shafeek is an Egyptian Dance Master and the youngest male dance talent come from Egypt. He is an international performer, teacher and choreographer who is renowned for his dynamic performance and excellent teaching skills. He has over 10 years of professional dance experience appearing in film, television and theatre, his repertoire is vast and includes modern and traditional styles of belly dance as well as ballet, contemporary and world dance. He is also the UK's only resident tanoura dancer (Egyptian whirling dervish). Shafeek has also started the UK's first and only performance course, the Shafeek Stage School with which he has joined with his show Arabian Dance Theatre.
