ALINA |
 |
Oriental dance is my biggest passion. I love dancing, and, for me, it is a way of expressing myself, showing my own world.
I am dancing for 11 years, and the first step was Indian dance classes (Bollywood style is a more common name) in the north of Russia. Later, I practiced different styles of Oriental dance, like belly dancing and Tribal belly dance.
Everything was and is a great experience.
About three years ago, when I started to perform in Dublin, I created my own dance style. Which comprises a mixture of Modern Bollywood and classical Indian with nice smooth moves from Egyptian belly dancing.

BLACK ORCHID |
 |
Black Orchid is the brainchild of founder members Mags & Roisin.
Trained in ireland and abroad for 17 years combined the two got a little bit bored of
donning the coin belts and went off in search of something bellydance that
packs a little more punch. Kindered spirits and a shared love of all things
slightly left of the middle, they stumbled across the world wide phenomenon
that is Tribal Fusion Belly Dance. This journey of discovery took the
budding Black Orchid all over the world in desperate search of training,
like minded souls and to soak up any knowledge available..
Each road trip embarked upon deepened the desire
for anything tribal and to bring this craze back to our shores. Regular
requests by fellow dancers from Belfast to Cork and everywhere in between
led to the birth of Black Orchid training workshops. With inspiration taken
from many different corners of the globe they also developed their own take
on the dance and indeed began creating their own costumes.
Right from the off our first gig at Voodoo Lounge Dublin on that fateful April night
catapulted Black Orchid into something they've still to understand Festival
after festival, gig after gig their fan base and demand has grown which in
turn lead to the birth of their baby Orchid and 2 became 3... the story
continues..... take a walk on the tribal side. To date, Black Orchid have had the great pleasure of dancing in Ireland, England, Italy, Spain and Northern Ireland.

VICKI |
 |
I have been dancing all my life. It is my passion: from the cradle to the grave!
I was a member of the tribal bellydance troupe "Akasha" that performed around Ireland and in France.
I first started teaching tribal bellydance 5 years ago in the West Cork area. I find it really inspiring to see the uniqueness that each woman or girl brings to the dance and to help them explore their gifts and weaknesses further to produce something that is empowering to each person. I also love the fact that this way of dancing helps us to reconnect with each other on an intuitive level, like birds in flight. This has led to the development of my new troupe "Birds of a Feather" who have been performing the funky fusion show "Metamorphosis" around Cork and Kerry. This includes veils, isis wings, pois, martial arts, purple fairies and much more!
My main motivation is the transformation that I see happening in the lives of the dancers as they become more in touch with their feminine power and sensuality: also the fun and laughs that we have together.
